Our Olive Oil

California Olive OIl Company is committed to growing and producing award winning extra virgin olive oil using cultivars that reflect California's rich olive oil history. Mission and Manzanillo varieties are brought together to produce a traditional "California style" olive oil.

Originally brought to early California by Fanciscan Padres for olive oil making, Mission olive trees have adorned the golden hills and fertile valleys of California for over 200 years. The Manzanillo variety came to the state in the 1870s and has been used for table fruit and olive oil production ever since.

The Nalley and Kornchuk families are proud to present a masterful blend of California grown and selectively hand harvested Mission and Manzanillo extra virgin "California style" olive oil. Cold pressed and unfiltered, the olive oil is certified extra virgin by the California Olive Oil Council and has been awarded a silver medal by the Los Angeles International Olive Oil Competition for the past two years.

What is "Extra Virgin" Olive Oil?

As long as the product has not been adulterated with seed or nut oils it is customarily labeled as "extra virgin olive oil" in this country. The US government does not currently test for the presence of refined olive oil, olive pomace oil, or sensory quality according to International Olive Council (IOC) standards. A petition has been filed at the federal level, however, to enforce the IOC standards for "extra virgin" in the US.
